TASK FORCE CHAIRMEN
Richard L. Keyser was elected Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer in September 1997. He is responsible for the strategic direction and overall leadership of the company. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Keyser served as President and Chief Executive Officer and as President and Chief Operating Officer. Before joining Grainger in 1986, Mr. Keyser was President of the Hycalog Division of NL Industries. His business career also includes 13 years with Cummins Engine Company. Mr. Keyser holds a bachelor of science degree in nuclear science from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master's degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School. He is a veteran of the U.S. Submarine Service. Mr. Keyser currently serves as director for the Rohm and Haas Company, The Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, The Principal Financial Group, the Evanston Northwestern Healthcare Research Institute and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. He also serves in an advisory capacity for several academic institutions, including the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and the Division of the Physical Sciences at the University of Chicago. He is a trustee of the John G. Shedd Aquarium and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Commercial Club of Chicago, and the Business Roundtable. |
