Business Roundtable's Climate RESOLVE (Responsible Environmental Steps, Opportunities to Lead by Voluntary Efforts) initiative seeks to have every company in every sector of the economy undertake voluntary actions to control greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve the GHG intensity of the U.S. economy. Our goal is to have participation by 100% of the Roundtable membership.
Roundtable CEOs believe that motivated, forward-looking companies working in partnership with government can find many practical, cost-effective opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce, avoid, offset or sequester GHG emissions - without serious economic disruption.
The Roundtable's first progress report - Every Sector, One RESOLVE: A Progress Report on Business Roundtable's Climate RESOLVE Program - shows that 70 percent of Roundtable companies from every sector of the economy have signed up for Climate RESOLVE.
In creating Climate RESOLVE, the Roundtable recognizes that some companies lack experience in managing GHG emissions and may need help in getting started. The Roundtable is committed to providing education and support to companies in the early stages of developing GHG management programs. An expert consultant has been hired to assist companies on a one-on-one basis, and the Roundtable is conducting telephone learning sessions for companies on various GHG topics and issues.
The Roundtable has created a series of tools that provide a step-by-step guide to improving energy efficiency and managing GHG emissions. One part of this special targeted effort is a new guide - RESOLVE to Improve Energy Efficiency in Office Buildings: Business Roundtable's Guide to Everyday Actions that Address Climate Change - on improving energy efficiency in office buildings, which provides useful information for any company that owns or occupies an office building.
Please e-mail us to let us know whether these changes are helpful. We also would like to know whether there are other ways we can make the site a more useful tool to help companies in their efforts reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Please feel free to send the Business Roundtable an email and let us know what you think about our Climate RESOLVE website. We also welcome hearing from other groups, especially businesses, who have addressed GHG issues in creative ways using technology or innovation.
If you are a Business Roundtable Climate RESOLVE member and have company news specific to the subject of sustainability, please e-mail it to rreynolds@businessroundtable.org to be posted on this site.
