Dear Chairman Hatch, Ranking Member Wyden, Chairman Ryan, and Ranking Member Levin:
The undersigned associations, representing thousands of businesses and their employees across a wide range of industries in all 50 states, recognize that our nation's outdated tax code is a major drag on the U.S. economy, holding back investment, job creation and growth. We appreciate and support the efforts of the House Ways and Means and Senate Finance Committees to advance bipartisan, comprehensive tax reform legislation.
The goal of any effort to rewrite the federal tax code should be a balanced and fiscally responsible plan that allows businesses in the United States to grow, create well-paying jobs and effectively compete in the global marketplace. Any discussion about reforming the tax code must be comprehensive and cover enterprises of all sizes, both corporations and pass-throughs.
Pro-growth, comprehensive tax reform has the power to unleash the pent up growth in our economy leading to increased investment, job creation and wage growth that will benefit all Americans. In contrast, continued gridlock on a much-needed overhaul of our nation's tax system will compound the uncertainty felt throughout the economy.
We applaud your leadership and dedication to improve our nation's tax system and look forward to working with you to make our nation's tax system more pro-growth, competitive, fairer, simpler and predictable.
Sincerely,
Bob Stallman, President, American Farm Bureau Federation
