Bill Burns has been named Chief Executive Officer, Zebra Technologies, effective March 1, 2023. He joined Zebra in 2015 and prior to being named CEO, he served as the Chief Product & Solutions Officer. In this role, he was responsible for the company’s product and solutions innovation strategy, investments, and development of its expansive technology portfolio. This included mobile computing, robotics automation, machine vision, software offerings, and specialty printers along with data capture and location solutions. Burns also oversaw the Chief Technology Office which focused on emerging technologies.
With more than 30 years of experience in the high-tech sector, Burns previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Embrane, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital-backed start-up acquired by Cisco in April 2015. Prior to Embrane, Burns was the Chief Executive Officer of Spirent Communications, a global leader in test and measurement solutions publicly traded on the London Stock Exchange. He has also held executive and sales leadership roles at Tellabs, Inc.
Burns holds a master’s degree in business administration from Temple University, a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Misericordia University, and an Associate degree in engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
