Washington – Business Roundtable, representing CEOs of U.S. companies from every sector of the economy, today applauded House passage of bipartisan Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) legislation.
“We commend the House, Senate and White House for working together on a plan to advance important trade bills,” said Tom Linebarger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Cummins Inc. and Chair of the Business Roundtable International Engagement Committee.
“We applaud the House for passing bipartisan Trade Promotion Authority legislation, which is critical to negotiating the best possible trade agreements for the United States and opening up new markets for American-made products and services. We urge the Senate to pass the legislation as quickly as possible and for the Senate and House to approve Trade Adjustment Assistance legislation as quickly as possible.”
Passage of bipartisan TPA legislation is a top priority for Business Roundtable. Business Roundtable founded and leads the U.S. business and agricultural community’s Trade Benefits America Coalition, which educates on the benefits of trade and U.S. trade agreements and advocates for passage of modernized TPA legislation.
