Business Roundtable on Release of Medicare Physician Payment Data

Loveman: ‘Important Progress Toward Improved Transparency’

Washington – Business Roundtable (BRT) today issued a statement from Gary Loveman, Chairman, President and CEO of Caesars Entertainment and Chair of BRT’s Health and Retirement Committee, in response to the release of Medicare Physician Payment Data by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):

“The release of information about payments made to more than 880,000 health care professionals under Medicare Part B represents important progress toward the improved transparency sought by employers and employees alike. More information about the cost and frequency of medical services can help consumers make more informed decisions about their health care and ultimately improve health care quality.

“Business Roundtable also believes it is important for CMS and outside groups to continue reviewing the information for accuracy, while at the same time respecting privacy concerns. The accuracy of the data is fundamental to the value of any analysis.”
