Business Roundtable Statement on Mitt Romney's Entrance into Health Care Debate

"Business Roundtable welcomes Governor Romney's entry into the health care debate," said John J. Castellani, president of Business Roundtable. "America's health care system costs more than any other in the world, creating a tremendous obstacle for American companies striving to stay competitive in our increasingly global economy. We are pleased that Governor Romney has carried his message of change to the national stage."

"Business Roundtable members have long recognized the danger of rising health care costs, which they consistently name as the number one cost pressure facing their companies. However, the complex issues that underpin these high costs do not lend themselves to a silver bullet. We must address them through a combination of private market reforms and changes in government programs specifically aimed at achieving efficiency and health care access for all Americans. We applaud Governor Romney for continuing to raise the national profile of this critical issue. We look forward to carefully reviewing his plan."
