Dear Chairman Hatch, Ranking Member Wyden, Chairman Ryan, and Ranking Member Levin:

The undersigned organizations, representing thousands of businesses and their employees across a wide range of industries in all 50 states, appreciate your efforts to advance legislation to seamlessly extend and possibly enhance or make permanent the package of important tax provisions that expired at the end of 2014.

Our nation's outdated tax code is a major drag on the U.S. economy, holding back investment, job creation and growth. While we appreciate and support the current efforts to advance bipartisan, comprehensive tax reform legislation, Congress must seamlessly extend the expired tax provisions that are critically important to U.S. jobs and the broader economy until an overhaul of the tax code is enacted into law.

The expired provisions are vitally important to creating and maintaining jobs, generating investment, advancing U.S. competitiveness and spurring economic growth. Failure to extend these provisions is a tax increase that will inject further instability and uncertainty into the economy and weaken confidence in the employment marketplace. Acting promptly on this matter will provide important predictability necessary for planning and decision-making by both individuals and businesses.

Thank you in advance for quick action on these important tax provisions.

Sincerely,

Business Roundtable
Information Technology Industry Council (ITI)
National Association of Manufacturers
National Foreign Trade Council
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
