Business Roundtable urges swift Senate action on CISA

Dear Majority Leader McConnell and Minority Leader Reid:

On behalf of the Business Roundtable, whose CEO members represent every sector of the economy and are on the front lines defending against sophisticated cybersecurity threats, I write to you in support of the passage of the Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (CISA) this year.

Cybersecurity is an issue CEOs manage every day.  Our customers depend on our ability to protect their data as well as deliver essential products and services to them.  As such, CEOs believe that cybersecurity threats are a pressing matter of national importance, presenting consequential risks to not only national security but also the U.S. economy that neither the public nor the private sector can unilaterally address.  To confront cybersecurity threats, Business Roundtable has long supported passage of cybersecurity information sharing legislation as a key fundamental to advancing legally- and privacy-protected cybersecurity information sharing.

Without enactment of information sharing legislation this year, the nation will continue to lag behind cybersecurity adversaries and will be ill-equipped to develop tools capable of confronting serious threats.  Business Roundtable urges passage of CISA as soon as possible.  We stand ready to work with you to ensure this outcome and, post passage, with the Executive Branch in support of implementation.

Sincerely,

Maggie Wilderotter
