Business Roundtable Statement on The Every Child Achieves Act

Washington – Business Roundtable President John Engler issued the following statement on Senate passage of The Every Child Achieves Act of 2015:

“We appreciate the Senate’s bipartisan efforts to reauthorize the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, but more work must be done to guarantee all students graduate from high school with the tools necessary to succeed in college and careers.

“We are pleased the Senate bill includes stronger accountability provisions than the House bill, and we remain hopeful the final legislation will include even stronger standards that ensure states and schools are accountable for student academic achievement. It is in our nation’s interest that our schools and our children succeed.”

Earlier this year, Business Roundtable released an economic growth agenda that calls for tax reform, trade expansion, fiscal stability, infrastructure investment and a competitive workforce so that America can reach its full potential.
