BRT Commends Ways and Means Committee Efforts to Advance Multiemployer Pension Reform

July 10, 2019

Washington – Business Roundtable today released the following statement ahead of the House Ways and Means Committee markup of legislation to address insolvency in the multiemployer pension plan (MEPP) system and at the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC):

“Business Roundtable CEO members applaud the House Ways and Means Committee and Chairman Richard Neal for their focus on strengthening the MEPP system and protecting the retirement benefits of millions of workers and their families. The economic consequences that would result from the failure of MEPPs and bankruptcy of the PBGC are of deep concern to BRT members. Lawmakers should continue to work in a bipartisan fashion to address these issues.”
