Infrastructure Business Roundtable on Senate GOP Infrastructure Proposal

May 27, 2021

Washington - Business Roundtable today issued the following statement after Senate Republicans presented a counteroffer to President Biden on his infrastructure proposal:

“We are encouraged by the new proposals and continued negotiations among legislators on both sides of the aisle and the White House,” said Business Roundtable President & CEO Joshua Bolten. “Policymakers should seize the opportunity for bold, bipartisan infrastructure legislation. We urge additional compromise and intensified bipartisan efforts over the Memorial Day recess.
“While achieving bipartisan consensus is not easy—and there remain good faith disagreements to continue to work through—policies reached through bipartisan consensus and passed through regular order will best allow for long-term funding certainty, including the ability to unleash private sector capital. We urge President Biden and congressional leaders to continue down this bipartisan path to ensure the nation’s infrastructure—highways, waterways, energy and communications—meets the needs of a revitalized U.S. economy.”
