Business Roundtable Statement on NEPA Phase 2 Rule
April 30, 2024
Washington - Business Roundtable CEO Joshua Bolten today issued the following statement in response to the Council on Environmental Quality’s (CEQ) final National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Phase 2 rule:
“Business Roundtable is disappointed with the final NEPA Phase 2 rule. CEQ missed an important opportunity to improve the NEPA permitting process for new infrastructure projects. Instead, CEQ reversed earlier reforms to the NEPA process, which will make it more complex, costly and time consuming to approve much needed infrastructure projects.
“An efficient and predictable NEPA process is integral to addressing the pressing infrastructure needs across the country. The final rule further underscores the need for Congress to pass additional permitting reforms.”
