Trade Business Roundtable Statement on Signing of USMCA

Nov 29, 2018

Washington – Business Roundtable today issued the following statement regarding the signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

"Business Roundtable commends the United States, Mexico and Canada for signing an agreement that maintains the trilateral structure of the North American trading relationship. Trade with Mexico and Canada supports 11 million American jobs and will continue to drive U.S. economic growth. To ensure a stronger trading relationship, we hope to see a prompt resolution that removes Section 232 steel and aluminum tariffs and retaliatory tariffs between all three countries.
“Business Roundtable shares the Administration’s goal of modernizing and strengthening trade with Mexico and Canada in ways that expand economic opportunity, create U.S. jobs and increase the competitiveness of U.S. companies. We will review the final text of USMCA against these objectives. We look forward to addressing any issues and then working with the Administration – along with Democrats and Republicans in Congress – to move USMCA across the finish line.”
