Jan 20, 2021

Washington - Following the swearing in of Joseph R. Biden as the 46th President of the United States, Business Roundtable President & CEO Joshua Bolten released the following statement on behalf of the CEO-led organization:

“Business Roundtable congratulates President Biden and Vice President Harris. This is a historic day, on which the first woman, Black woman and person of South Asian descent has been sworn in as Vice President of the United States. All Americans can be proud of the strength of our democracy.
“As the new Administration takes office, our nation faces concurrent health, economic and racial equity crises. While these challenges are immense, they are not insurmountable, and we remain confident in our nation’s ability to meet the challenges before us. We applaud the new Administration for taking swift action to bring an end to the pandemic, including by developing a strong national plan to scale up vaccination and support the public health response. Business Roundtable looks forward to working with the Administration to defeat COVID-19, to support workers, families and small businesses, and to ensure a safe and rapid economic recovery.
“The Biden Administration and members of both parties in Congress have the opportunity to enact policies that will support long-term economic growth and create lasting opportunity for all Americans, including by improving our nation’s infrastructure, modernizing the U.S. immigration system, investing in worker training and harnessing trade to enable Americans to sell more goods and services at home and abroad. We look forward to working together on measures to strengthen our economy and to make meaningful progress on big issues like climate change and racial equity and justice.”
