Infrastructure Business Roundtable Statement on the Lewis Latimer Plan for Digital Equity and Inclusion

Mar 31, 2021

Washington – Following the release of the National Urban League’s Lewis Latimer Plan for Digital Equity and Inclusion, Business Roundtable today issued this statement:

“We applaud the National Urban League for its leadership and focus on bridging the digital divide. Business Roundtable shares many of the goals of the Latimer Plan, including around broadband deployment, increasing connectivity and expanding participation in and access to the innovation economy.
“Throughout the pandemic, including as part of our advocacy on essential COVID-19 rescue measures, Business Roundtable called on policymakers to include resources to bridge the digital divide. America’s business leaders recognize far too many Americans are disconnected from broadband infrastructure, especially in rural and low-income communities, and federal action is needed to close the gap.”

In January, Business Roundtable released a set of five recommendations for the federal government to promote broadband deployment and access nationwide.
