CEO COVID-19 Task Force Business Roundtable Statement on White House Vaccination, COVID-19 Safety Protocols Announcement

Jul 29, 2021

Washington - Following the Biden Administration’s announcement of new vaccination and COVID-19 safety protocols for the federal government, Business Roundtable President & CEO Joshua Bolten released this statement:

“Business Roundtable welcomes the Biden Administration’s continued vigilance in response to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases across the country and new more infectious variants of the disease. Today’s announcement is an important step toward achieving two critically important objectives – keeping the American people safe and keeping the U.S. economy and schools open. America’s business leaders reaffirm their commitment to continuing to take all appropriate steps to ensure the safety of their employees and customers.
“As has been proven by our nation’s experience over the past many months since vaccines became widely available, vaccination is playing a significant role in creating some sense of normalcy, allowing us to resume activities that have been on hold and reconnect with family, friends and colleagues. That is why Business Roundtable members will continue encouraging their eligible employees and customers to get vaccinated. Many companies have done this by offering incentives and vaccines onsite, providing paid time off for employees to get vaccinated or take their vaccine-eligible children to do so and sharing fact-based information about the vaccines and COVID-19.”

Business Roundtable and its members continue to lead and support efforts to educate the public to build vaccine confidence and increase uptake, including through a partnership with leading health, business and communications organizations. In February, the Roundtable launched “Move the Needle,” a campaign to support the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines and promote vaccination.
