Education and Workforce Business Roundtable Welcomes Bipartisan Legislation Expanding Pell Grant Eligibility

Jan 31, 2023

Washington - Business Roundtable CEO Joshua Bolten today released the following statement on Senate introduction of the Jumpstarting our Businesses by Supporting Students (JOBS) Act:

“Business Roundtable applauds Senators Kaine and Braun for their leadership on the JOBS Act, which would expand Pell Grant eligibility to students enrolled in high-quality skills and job training programs. Providing Pell Grants to students pursuing a shorter-term, workforce-based training program will help more Americans attain a fulfilling career path and ensure our workforce can better meet the needs of the economy. As this debate continues, we stand ready to work with both chambers of Congress to find a bipartisan path forward on this important issue and other reforms to our federal workforce development system.”

In July 2022, Business Roundtable released a suite of federal policy recommendations, which included expanding Pell Grant eligibility, to modernize the workforce development system to ensure a stronger return on investment and tackle the critical challenges facing workers and employers.
