<h4><strong>More Can Be Done To Expedite the Review and Permitting Process</strong></h4><p>For years, onerous permitting processes and regulations have stood in the way of infrastructure improvements American communities depend on. Unfortunately, permitting delays and regulatory uncertainty at the federal, state and local levels have created a backlog of infrastructure projects and locked up billions of dollars of potential investment.</p>

<p>Improving the federal permitting process will help unlock investment and speed project development. The United States should strive for balanced regulatory policies that protect the public interest, promote private investment and increase predictability. This can be done by making sure government agencies work together to quickly determine whether a proposed project meets environmental, safety and other standards. Project approvals should not take years when upgrades are needed today.</p><p>The Administration has taken actions to expedite review and permitting for major U.S. infrastructure projects that will help increase American competitiveness and economic growth. But there is more to be done.&nbsp;</p>
