Engineering internships for the next generation

In its news release about Wednesday’s meeting of the President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness, the White House highlighted the contributions of Business Roundtable and other business associations in pledging to increase the number of engineering internships.

Business Roundtable issued our own release about the importance of engineering and the entire STEM school of study – Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Coverage by The Oregonian of Wednesday’s forum led with the comments of Paul Otellini, President and CEO of Intel and a member of the Jobs Council (and BRT member), about the opportunities in the United States for aspiring engineers. He said, “"There is a generic impression that all engineering jobs in this country have been outsourced.  In fact, the opposite is true.”
