Business Roundtable Statement on Immigration

June 19, 2018

Washington – Business Roundtable today released the following statement from Chuck Robbins, Chairman and CEO of Cisco Systems, Inc. and Chair of the Business Roundtable Immigration Committee, ahead of President Trump’s meeting with Members of Congress on immigration issues:

“This week, Congress and the Administration can work together on a solution for DACA recipients who arrived in this country as children and call the United States of America their home. Instead of relying on the courts to determine their legal status, lawmakers should protect these young people who are making contributions to our nation as soldiers, students, and workers. As a legislative solution to this problem is crafted, any bill that includes cuts to legal immigration would be very concerning to U.S. businesses. Such policies would undermine America’s economic competitiveness.
“Additionally, Business Roundtable urges the Administration to end immediately the policy of separating accompanied minors from their parents. This practice is cruel and contrary to American values.
“Business Roundtable applauds lawmakers from both parties who are working in good faith to reform our immigration system in a comprehensive way. Resolving these issues in a manner that reflects American values will boost our economy and is right for our society.”
