Business Roundtable Launches National Campaign to Advocate for Permitting Reform, Releases Set of Policy Recommendations

Last week, Business Roundtable kicked off a new, seven-figure advocacy campaign to press for bipartisan permitting reform: “Ready. Set. Let’s Build.” The launch featured new inside-the-Beltway digital and radio ads and the release of “Building a Prosperous Future,” a report with policy recommendations to build on recent meaningful permitting reforms and accelerate project approvals across energy, transportation, technology and other critical sectors.

Why It Matters:

  • 650+ major infrastructure projects stuck in the federal permitting process
  • An estimated $1.5 trillion in investment awaiting approval
  • Approximately $1.7–2.4 trillion in unrealized GDP from infrastructure projects stalled in federal review

What They’re Saying:

Brendan Bechtel, Chairman and CEO, Bechtel
Chair, Business Roundtable Smart Regulation Committee:

“The biggest lever to unlock America’s economic potential is modernizing our permitting process. From delivering clean energy and AI data centers to meeting the President’s goal of 10 new nuclear reactors by 2030, the United States cannot afford to let projects sit idle for years.”

Joshua Bolten, CEO, Business Roundtable:

“If we want to compete and win in the coming decades, America needs a permitting process that moves at the pace of our ambitions. Congress and the Administration have made meaningful progress on this vital issue, and now is the time to finish the job by enacting bipartisan permitting reform legislation.”

Modernizing the U.S. permitting system is one of the most powerful steps we can take to strengthen America’s competitiveness and economy.

Ready. Set. Let’s build the infrastructure of today and tomorrow.
