Kristen Silverberg Named Next President and CEO of Business Roundtable

Washington – Business Roundtable today named Kristen Silverberg as its next President and Chief Executive Officer. Ambassador Silverberg, who currently serves as Business Roundtable President and Chief Operating Officer, will succeed current CEO Joshua Bolten when he steps down on January 31, 2027.

In announcing the Business Roundtable Board of Directors’ decision to appoint Silverberg, Board Chair Chuck Robbins, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Cisco Systems, Inc., described her as a “proven and strategic leader, with the deep trust and respect of Business Roundtable’s Board and members.”

“Kristen has been instrumental in positioning the organization and its leaders as effective advocates for policies that help American businesses grow and innovate while expanding opportunity for workers and communities across the country. The Board is delighted that Kristen will lead the organization at this important moment for American business and our economy.”

Business Roundtable Past-Chair and At-Large Board Member Mary Barra, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of General Motors Company, highlighted Silverberg’s extensive policy experience, her record of public engagement and the leadership she has demonstrated at Business Roundtable.

“Kristen has a long track record in the public and private sectors of bringing leaders together. She knows how to turn complex challenges into a clear agenda and meaningful results. Business Roundtable will be exceptionally well-served by her leadership.”

Jamie Dimon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at JPMorganChase, Past-Chair and At-Large Board Member, praised Silverberg’s active engagement and her ability to translate the experience of business leaders into effective advocacy.

Robbins and Dimon also thanked Joshua Bolten for his “decade of leadership that deepened Business Roundtable’s influence as an effective advocate for American economic leadership.”

“Josh is a universally respected leader whose integrity and steady leadership through consequential years have earned admiration across the business community and among policymakers,” Robbins said. “His leadership has made Business Roundtable a stronger and more effective advocate for American economic leadership. We are deeply grateful for his service and for the extraordinary foundation he has built.”

Dimon added: “I asked Josh to take this job because of his character, his judgment under pressure and his distinguished record of service to his country. The Board agreed, and he has proved us right many times over. He has helped shape debates on critical policy issues, including tax reform and trade. Josh has led Business Roundtable to extraordinary success, and Kristen is the ideal person to build on that legacy.”

Ambassador Silverberg will take the helm as CEO, having served as President and Chief Operating Officer since 2022. She previously served as the organization’s Executive Vice President of Policy. During President George W. Bush’s administration, Silverberg served in senior positions at the White House, as an Assistant Secretary of State and as U.S. Ambassador to the European Union. She also served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and Judge David Sentelle of the U.S. Court of Appeals. She attended Harvard College and the University of Texas School of Law.

Silverberg emphasized the importance of the organization’s mission and the role of American companies and their CEOs in championing and delivering growth and jobs in today’s economy.
